The Legend of Maula Jatt, directed by Fawad Khan, breaks new ground for Pakistani movies at the international box office

The Legend of Maula Jatt, directed by Fawad Khan, earns a mind-blowing sum, marking a new milestone for Pakistani movies worldwide.

The epic movie The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, has finally been released, and if Deadline is to be believed, it enjoyed a strong opening weekend at the box office.

After debuting in 25 regions and 500 screens, the revival of the 1979 classic has amassed an astounding Rs 51 crore (2.3 million dollars) in worldwide revenue. The film has established a new standard for Pakistani films and their popularity abroad.

The Legend of Maula Jatt tells the tale of prizefighter Maula Jatt (played by Pakistani star Fawad Khan), who battles Noori Natt, one of the most feared fighters of the era, while being tormented by his previous demons. Other than Fawad and Mahira, the movie Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malik have important roles in the movie as well. Brian Adler, who oversaw the visual effects for both Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water, is said to be in charge of it.

The Legend of Maula Jatt knocked ticket registers in the U.s, earning $290,000, while the figures were higher in the U.k, earning a total of $355,000. But it was in the UAE that the film achieved the best performance, earning a whopping $515,000; the Fawadstarrer earned $517,000 in Pakistan.

In an interview with Deadline, director Bilal Lashari expressed his awe at the film's success, saying, "I'm beyond overwhelmed by the love the film has received from audiences and critics alike the world over." We are so proud that The Legend of Maula Jatt has helped to put Pakistani cinema on the map, and that it continues to win hearts in theatres around the world."
